Pre-habilitation and Post-operative orthopaedic rehabilitation & conditioning

Pre-habilitation

Preparing for surgery is important, and one of the most helpful ways you can speed up your post-operative recovery is to consult your physiotherapist for exercise and equipment prescription in the months before having surgery. This is particularly helpful for hip and knee replacements and spinal surgery. Your physiotherapist will work with you to develop appropriate exercises that address your musculoskeletal imbalances, improve joint range of motion and muscle strength to reduce your recovery time after surgery. Your physiotherapist can also help you identify equipment that you can organise to hire or purchase prior to having your surgery to make it easier for you to function when you return home from hospital.

Post-operative orthopaedic rehabilitation & conditioning

Orthopaedic surgery is very common and we often see clients after they have returned home from hospital with many different types of surgery, especially hip and knee replacements. Your physiotherapist will work with you to develop a specific exercise program to get you back on your feet following surgery. They can also help arrange equipment, such as walking aids, to help you function safely at home.
